Working Visit to the Educational Institutions of Kotayk Region

The Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, and the Head of the Department of Preliminary / Vocational and Secondary Vocational Education of the Ministry of Education, Artak Aghbalyan, visited Abovyan Vocational School of Kotayk region of RA, Abovyan State and Energy Colleges, as well as the Agricultural College of Nor Geghi and the Vocational School of Byureghavan. They got acquainted with the conditions of the building and the infrastructure of the institutions, talked with the lecturers and students. The results of the admission process, the possibilities of introducing new professions and other issues were discussed with the directors. Hovhannes Hovhannisyan observed that there were serious disciplinary issues in colleges and institutions and he added that in the rural areas particularly, the attendance of students dwindles because of the seasonal agricultural work. "There was such a problem mainly in the educational institutions of Byureghavan and Nor Geghi. A direct and strict instruction was given to the directors in order to correct the situation and to avoid the number of absent students; the need to ensure proper quality education and to work with employers on creating livelier communication was also emphasized", mentioned Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, underlining that two of the institutions visited are in a rather poor condition and caused concern in terms of the number of students and the conditions of the building. Then, the Deputy Minister stressed that, in order to check the actual situation of academic institutions, such unannounced visits will be repeated.
