The Modernization of Education as a Priority of the Government of Armenia

The Acting Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, Arayik Harutyunyan, met with the participants of the workshop entitled “Geographic Information System in Armenian Schools”. Highlighting the importance of the GIS as an educational device, Arayik Harutyunyan mentioned that the modernization of education is one of the paramount priorities of the RA Government, which aims to import innovative approaches and tools into the educational system. Welcoming the cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Science with the “KARDÉS” organization, AGBU Armenia and Armenian Virtual College of AGBU, the Acting Minister emphasized the importance of complete adoption of state- of- the -art tools to educate students. Over 100 teachers from Yerevan and the regions of Lori, Kotayk, Armavir, and Ararat have attended the first workshops, where they have learnt about the GIS system, its importance as an educational apparatus to analyze the locality.
After the end of the workshop the participants visited the MUSExpo-2018 exhibition, which was organized from November 12th through 14th at the Exhibition Hall of AGBU Armenia within the program of “Museum Week: Reconsidering the Cultural Areas”. MUSExpo aims to provide a special meeting platform for the specialists of the spheres of tourism and museum, where new opportunities for involving museums in the tourism itinerary will be discussed.
