2018-07-26

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the ceremonious meeting of the academic council of Yerevan State Medical University after M. Heratsi. During the event, which was held out of doors in the courtyard of the university clinic of Heratsi N1 clinical complex, the graduates first read out the oath of Hippocrates and then received their diplomas.
The Prime Minister congratulated all graduates and stressed: “You may know that our university system is short of students, while the medical university is one of those unique universities that do not face such a problem, firstly because in the Soviet era it used to be an international educational institution, and it is joyful to see that this tradition continued into the Third Republic, and now has entered a new phase of development.
This model of the Armenian university is very important for the organization of our university system, I believe that the way of internationalization of our higher education system is the right way to continue not only for foreign students, but first of all for ourselves, because this model must be constantly developed to promote and improve the quality of education and win international recognition for it, make it keep abreast of all international news updates, new technologies and developments.”
Nikol Pashinyan expressed the hope that the recent changes in Armenia will give new impetus and energy to the university system. “I do believe that the best professionals are those who do not choose a profession based on mathematical, financial and economic considerations, but do it based on deep understanding of their mission. In my opinion, profession is primarily a mission, especially as regards the profession of a doctor. I hope that all graduates are entering the professional career with conviction and faith that they will necessarily change the world, if not the whole world, then at least the medical, health world, at least the working world in which they live. Ultimately, to give a person happiness and health is the greatest human mission, and I hope that nothing will distract our today’s graduates from this mission - neither wealth, nor money, nor pleasure. I am convinced that if they hold on to their mission, they will get the most out of it. I hope that they will work in the same way and in a dimension where relations are regulated not only and not so much by statutory laws and by-laws, but by the relationship of a person with himself, his conscience and mission. I believe in your mission; I believe in our common victory,” Prime Minister Pashinyan said.
In the 2017-2018 academic year, the YSMU boasted 1001 graduates, 45 of them graduated from high school with a red diploma, and 24 are military doctors.
