Higher Education becomes less popular year by year, and there are some reasons for that. The statement was mentioned by Arayik Harutyunyan, during his meeting with the rectors of private HEIs. "The main source of finance of HEIs is the tuition that students pay which has its effects on education. We have some programs with private schools because even if they are not owned by the state, they have an impact on education. And as the state is the main organizer of education, we cannot neglect any problems. We do not want to interfere, but HEIs should think about their future in this new condition so that we will not reach in a situation that we are obliged to change licenses, and close HEIs “said minister and added that only two private HEIs passed institutional accreditation and encouraged others to do so.
The rectors asked the minister many questions and had some proposals. They were mostly interested in equal opportunities, problems with HEIs in regions, accreditation process, entrance exams etc.
As an answer, Arayik Harutyunyan mentioned that equal opportunities are essential for the development of HEIs. "We want HEIs to become successful and develop other HEIs. Moreover, only big private colleges can compete with state colleges." continued the minister.
At the end of the meeting, there was an agreement about having future gatherings.
