Discussion on “Corruption risk assessment in RA general education sector”

Minister of Education and Science of RA Levon Mkrtchyan met today with the representatives of “Transparency International”, “Demanding society for responsible management”, “Public policy” Non-Governmental Organizations and USAID Armenia’s Office of Democracy, Health and Social Reform. The main target of the meeting was to discuss study results of “Corruption risk assessment in RA general education sector”, carried out by the above mentioned organizations.
Highlighting the cooperation with NGOs, Levon Mkrtchyan underlined that the Ministry of Education and Science highly appreciates all initiatives of Non-Governmental Organizations, aimed at ensuring new level of quality and increasing efficiency of reforms in the education sector. Minister attached great significance to the consistent work implemented throughout years by “Transparent International” organization, stressing that their work contributes to the introduction of more transparent and effective methods into the system of education.
Executive manager of “Transparent International” organization Sona Ayvazyan presented the study, which was implemented basically in 3 areas – fee-paying courses, inclusive education and publishing of textbooks. She welcomed the initiative of the Ministry to organize such kind of discussion prior to the presentation of the research to public, which enables to analyze the identified issues with the officials of the education sector and to find solutions to them.
