Armenia-Germany: The Results of the Struggle Against Corruption in Education are Noticeable

During his visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, the RA Acting Minister of Education and Science, Arayik Harutyunyan, met with the Deputy Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Government of Germany and the Special Representative for East Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia, Michael Zibert. Arayik Harutyunyan introduced the internal political situation in Armenia, at the same time mentioning, that the recent election of the Mayor of Yerevan was a unique referendum for holding extraordinary parliamentary elections, and the people gave their mandate for holding such elections. M. Zibert noted that the German Party is ready to strengthen the cooperation between Armenia and Germany and expresses its willingness to support the introduction and development of democratic processes in Armenia.
The German official commended the efforts of the Republic of Armenia in fighting corruption. Arayik Harutyunyan mentioned that there is a universal struggle in Armenia against corruption, and the results are already noticeable particularly in education. The Parties also looked at issues of how the administration of higher educational institutions be void of any political influence.
The Acting Minister of Education and Science, Arayik Harutyunyan, also met with the Head of the Software Policy, Strategy and International Relations Department of the Federal Institut for Vocational Education and Training, Birgit Tomann. Tomann shared the experience of the Federal Republic of Germany in secondary vocational education, and issues of mutual interest were discussed. The RA Acting Minister of Education and Science proposed to deepen the cooperation in secondary vocational education, and, particularly, to create a joint action plan.
The delegation, headed by Arayik Harutyunyan, visited the House-Museum of Johannes Lepsius in Potsdam. Emphasizing the role J. Lepsius had in Armenia’s history, the cultural and scientific-research activities, implemented by the house-museum, were featured. During the meeting, matters on the development of cooperation between the house-museum and the relevant educational and scientific organizations in Armenia were discussed.
