The Second Conference of CIS Scientists Has been Launched

The second conference of CIS scientists has been launched at the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, the main goal of which was to activate and develop the cooperation between academic institutions of CIS countries. The RA Minister of Education and Science, Arayik Harutyunyan, delivered a welcoming speech at the opening of the conference. Highlighting the importance of the conference, Arayik Harutyunyan welcomed the participants on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Science and mentioned that it coincides with the 75th anniversary of the RA NAS. As the Minister mentioned, delegations of scientific academies and leading research centers from various countries arrived in Armenia to participate in this jubilee event. "Especially, I want to emphasize that the role of education and science is invaluable in the processes of the progress of the democratic value system and civic society, which contributes to the development of the country. The main objective of the conference is to develop scientific and technical collaboration of scientific institutions of the CIS countries, to promote the implementation of cooperative research projects, to develop plans for the development of innovative policy of the CIS countries as well as to encourage the propagation of science and exchange of experience among CIS youth", said the Minister of Education and Science, and added that the conference is an effective platform for the implementation of innovative initiatives and joint scientific projects among the member States, as well as for the promotion of the mobility of students and scholars. The minister hoped that during the conference, a sustainable cooperation between scientists will be established, which will contribute to the growth of scientific research and the cooperation of young scientists in the region.
The President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, Radik Martirosyan, and the Deputy Foreign Minister, Shavarsh Kocharyan, also welcomed the participants of the conference.
The results of the conference will be summed up on October 16. A plenary session will be held during which scientists from the CIS countries will deliver speeches on issues of scientific development in the CIS. During the conference round tables will be held on such topics as "The State of Fundamental Science and the Perspectives of Development ", "The Improvement of the Scientific Cooperation in Digital Era" and "Innovative Scientific Researches".
At the end of the event, the conference will adopt a declaration. The second Conference of CIS scientists is being held according to the program of humanitarian cooperation of 2017-2018.
The second forum of CIS scientists was organized by the RA Ministry of Education and Science and the RA National Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the CIS Executive Committee and with the financial support of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund. The conference was supported by the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Council of Young Scientists of National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, the Yerevan State University, the Armenian National Polytechnic University, and the Armenian-Russian University.
