Issues of Inclusive Education the Focus of the Meeting

Today, the Deputy Minister of the RA Ministry of Education and Science, Arevik Anapiosyan, met with the Deputy to the Director of the Office of CoE Commissioner, Bojana Urumova, and the Adviser to the Commissioner, Andrzej Mancewicz. During the meeting women’s and children’s rights issues, domestic violence, and the rights of certain vulnerable people, like the disabled, were discussed. The attention of the parties in the discussion centered on issues that could rise while transitioning special needs students into inclusive classrooms. In this process, that will happen over a period until 2022 in the Republic of Armenia, it is important to consider developmental strategies to make the transition as smooth as possible, the necessities of setting up of pedagogical-psychological centers, training teachers on how to cope with disabled students, and dealing with students who had dropped out. It was also noted that pre-school education will be accessible in every region in the RA.
The representatives of the Office of CoE Commissioner have expressed their readiness to expand the cooperation with the RA Ministry of Education and Science.
